Saturday, May 9th is CdLS Awareness Day

Today is a special day for us. Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) Awareness Day! Since it coincides with SOOC Saturday, I decided to combine the two in my post this week.
My youngest daughter, Jessica, was born with this rare, genetic syndrome. The photo above (which was taken long before digital cameras…so definitely SOOC!) is Jessica at about 2 weeks old -yes, she really had that much hair when she was born!- with her older sister. It is one of my favorites.
Jessica came into the world weighing 4 lbs. 3 oz. and 17″ long. She was diagnosed with CdLS at 2 months old. It was the begining of our journey into a strange, new world. The road’s been rough at times, but it’s been well worth the trip!
To learn more about this syndrome, please visit the CdLS Foundation Website. The Foundation is a wonderful organization dedicated to “reaching out, providing help, giving hope.”
I’d like to thank Heidi at GGIP for encouraging us to post about Awareness Day on our blogs. If you have a chance, hop on over to Heidi’s blog to read about her adorable son “Little Boy Blue” who has CdLS.
Happy Saturday!

Thanks so much for participating. What a SUPER CUTE photo! Look at Jess’s feet, they are so cute!
And her big sister looking down on her whole holding her little hand is just priceless.

I had to read through the post to realize your older daughter wasn’t holding a doll, they are both so pretty. This is a wonderful photo. So precious!

I can see why you love that photo! Precious!
I am the oldest of 8, and we all had heads full of dark hair at birth. My Dad was able to walk up to the nursery window and find his new baby by looking at the hair, once he’d had his first few! My mother says we all looked like little indians!
